— Judith Stafford at Clevedon Hypnotherapy —
Helping you to become the person you deserve to be
Who am I?
Hello, my name is Judith Stafford and I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner based in Clevedon and operating throughout Bristol and Somerset.
After successfully stopping smoking with hypnosis, I was surprised to find out how many people I knew had been to a hypnotherapist to successfully treat a variety of symptoms such as pain and anxiety, as well as others who had also stopped smoking after hypnotherapy. When they told me how much it had helped, I decided to train as a clinical hypnotherapist. I now help people who are suffering from stress and anxiety, low confidence and self-esteem, menopause symptoms, panic attacks and weight loss and smoking.
My working life has spanned many different industries and job types. Including bar work, retail and admin, as well as 15 years writing manuals for IT and Engineering companies. I have a wealth of life experiences and have gone through many of the same difficulties my clients are experiencing.
I qualified as a hypnotherapist with a Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy with Hypnofocus – The Central Academy of Clinical Hypnosis and NLP. Hypnofocus Training is approved by the British Psychological Society Learning Centre for the purposes of Continual Professional Development.
Why are Qualifications Important?
Hypnotherapy is not yet licenced in the UK. This means that anyone can advertise and call themselves a hypnotherapist whether they are qualified or not. Even if they have qualification, you can purchase an online hypnotherapy course for £99. So, this does not necessarily mean that they have been properly trained. Checking that practitioners belong to professional memberships proves that they have been trained to the high standards set out by each particular society.
I am qualified in the following fields:
Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy
Qualified to practice hypnotherapy on a range of problems including stress and anxiety, pain management, self esteem and confidence boosting and habit breaking – including nail biting.
Diploma in Neuro-Linguistic Programming
NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming. It is a method of self-improvement based on modifying our behaviour through language and communication which recodes the brain to make us behave in more constructive ways. It uses hypnosis and self-hypnosis to help us achieve the changes we want in ourselves and our life.
Weight Management Specialist
Part of my training was in helping people lose weight so I can help you lose weight and keep it off.
Smoking Cessation Specialist
I can help you stop smoking for good this time. Also a member of the Central Register of Stop Smoking Therapists (CRSST).
Accreditations and Professional Memberships
Professional memberships are an important way to ensure that the person who is helping you is properly qualified to do so.
I belong or am registered with the following organisations:
Complementary Health and Natural Healthcare Council
The CNHC was set up in 2008 as a voluntary regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners. Its main purpose is to provide a register of qualified practitioners who meet the required national standards in their work.
General Hypnotherapy Register
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) is overseen by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) who are the largest and best known organisations in the field of hypnotherapy. It is a globally recognised professional association comprising of hypnotherapy practitioners all over the world. All registered therapists have been vetted to ensure they have approved training and qualifications to practice hypnotherapy. Practitioners registered on the GHR are then eligible to join the Complementary Health and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). Of which I am also a member.
National Hypnotherapy Society
The National Hypnotherapy Society (NHS) is the only organisation holding a register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. Its purpose is to advance the knowledge of hypnotherapy through training, accreditation and the continued professional development of its members.
Members of the NHS must give evidence that they have successfully completed a society accredited course.
Information Commissioners Office
The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) is primarily involved with upholding information rights of the public. As part of the Data Protection Act, all businesses involved in collecting data on individuals must register with the ISO. Registration ensures that the business complies with the rules and regulations regarding personal information.
