Does your body feel like it belongs to someone else? Your brain turned to mush, or do you alternate between flying off the handle or crying at the slightest thing?
Menopause can be a time of frustration, self-doubt, and confusion. The constant worry about its impact on relationships, job, and sanity can leave you feeling lost and unsure of where to seek help.
Menopause symptoms can make your life miserable. I know because for a while I was certain I had dementia. I would forget simple things like where I put my keys or what day it was.

Why is the Menopause so difficult?
Menopause is a powerful rite of passage that celebrates the culmination of a woman’s reproductive years and transition into a new phase of life. Embracing menopause as a natural biological process is important, instead of considering it a deficiency or illness.
Unfortunately, as our bodies adapt to a reduced hormone level, it can lead to undesirable side effects that can affect your quality of life. But fortunately, we no longer have to put up with it as other generations of women did, as there are plenty of things we can do to help ourselves from HRT to Hypnotherapy.
Understanding Menopause Symptoms
There is no ‘normal’ menopause. Every woman’s experience will be different. Every woman will go through menopause – the average age is 51, unless you have surgical menopause in which case it will happen immediately afterwards.
When you go through menopause naturally, as your hormone levels decline, symptoms will be gradual. You may not even notice them for a while. Some women barely notice that they have reached menopause until their periods stop, while others can suffer badly with symptoms for many years. Most women will lie somewhere in between.
Do you think the menopause is all about hot flushes and night sweats?
It is much more complicated than that. Every woman’s experience will be different, and symptoms vary hugely in both range and intensity. Hot flushes and night sweats are the most common symptoms, but they can also include many others.

How Hypnotherapy can Help
Hypnotherapy can be a useful complementary approach for helping women manage various symptoms associated with menopause.
Hypnotherapy can help women develop better coping mechanisms, reduce stress and anxiety levels, and promote a more positive mindset through relaxation techniques and positive suggestions. By inducing a state of deep relaxation and calmness, it can help reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes and night sweats. Through suggestions and imagery, the hypnotherapist can guide the woman’s mind to regulate her body temperature more effectively and manage disruptive sleeping patterns.
Here are just a few ways you can help ease symptoms yourself
Keep a diary
Make a note of what makes your symptoms worse. For example, spicey foods giving you a hot flush, alcohol effecting your mood or stress leading to sleepless nights.
Maintain a healthy diet
A diet rich in protein, vegetables and calcium will help your body stay strong and healthy. Avoid or cut down on anything that makes symptoms worse.
Learn to manage stress
You can’t avoid stress altogether, but using relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga can help manage it.
