Stopping smoiking with hypnotherapy

Experience a Nicotine Free Life: How Hypnotherapy Can Help You!

Hypnotherapy Treatment for Smoking or Vaping in Clevedon

Desperately want to stop smoking, but afraid you will fail?

Stopping smoking can be difficult. Many people try to fail multiple times. But it can be done. I stopped smoking after 30 years of the habit and a couple of failed attempts. I finally succeeded thanks to hypnotherapy and haven’t smoked for 10 years now. Not only have I not smoked, but I don’t have any desire to smoke again.

If I can do it, so can you!

I’m not here to give you a lecture. We all know the health risks. We also know that these are expensive and often frustrating habits. Whether you are hooked on traditional cigarettes or have found yourself trapped by vaping, the goal is the same: freedom from nicotine addiction.

There are many reasons people stop smoking or vaping: health, cost, smell and having to smoke outside on your own as all your friends have stopped. Usually, it is a combination of these as well as other reasons.

All the above are good reasons to stop smoking or vaping, but ultimately the decision to do so is a personal one.

Why stopping vaping can feel different to stopping smoking

Stopping vaping is not always the same as stopping smoking.

With cigarettes, there is often a stronger smell, a higher cost, and more obvious social restrictions. You may have to go outside; plan cigarette breaks or hide the smell.

Vaping can be easier to justify because it may seem cleaner, cheaper, or less harmful. But that can make it more difficult to let go of. You might tell yourself:

A bearded man in a light shirt sits outside against a marble wall, exhaling a large cloud of vapour from an electronic cigarette.

    •  It’s not as bad as smoking.
    •  I’ll stop, eventually.
    •  I only vape when I’m stressed.
    •  It helps me relax.
    •  At least I’m not smoking.
    •  I can stop whenever I want.

The problem is that nicotine still keeps the cycle going. The craving appears, you vape, you feel temporary relief, and the brain learns to repeat the pattern.

Hypnotherapy can help interrupt that cycle.

Differences in treating smoking and vaping

Hypnotherapy for smoking

Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective method of stopping smoking that does not rely on replacing cigarettes with anything else.

It focuses on helping you become a non-smoker, rather than someone who is constantly trying not to smoke.

Two hands are shown: the left hand holds three cigarettes, and the right hand holds a black vaping device, both on a white background.

 Hypnotherapy for vaping

Vaping can be more repetitive and automatic than smoking. You may not even notice how often you reach for your vape.

Hypnotherapy can help you become more aware of the habit, reduce the urge to vape and reinforce the idea that you are free from nicotine.

It can be especially helpful if you:

  • Started vaping to stop smoking, but now feel stuck
  •  Vape more than you used to smoke
  •  Feel anxious without your vape
  •  Vape automatically throughout the day
  •  Want to stop but keep putting it off
  •  Are worried about your dependence on nicotine
  •  Want to stop smoking and vaping completely

We all know this, but here are a few reminders to motivate you.

The Benefits of Stopping Smoking and Vaping

Z

Improved Health

Where to start? When you stop smoking, your body begins to recover. Blood pressure can improve, circulation can increase, and your lungs can start to clear. If you stop vaping too, you are also freeing yourself from regular nicotine use and the cycle of cravings.

Z

Freedom from addiction

No more checking whether you have cigarettes, a lighter, vape liquid, spare pods, or a charged battery. No more planning your day around your next cigarette or vape. One of the biggest benefits is emotional freedom. You are no longer controlled by the urge to smoke or vape.

Z

Increased bank balance

Who doesn’t want to be better off? Put the money you save away so you can really see how much money you have saved. Vapers often underestimate costs—a daily vaping habit can cost £10-£20+ per week.

Z

Better sense of smell

You will find all your favourite scents smell so much better. Inhale the scent of freshly cut grass and your favourite perfume again with joy. Vapers especially notice improved taste once they quit, as vaping dulls taste buds over time.

Z

No more stinky clothes

Even if you smoke outside, the smell still sticks to you. If you smoke indoors, the smoke permeates into the furnishings and walls too. While vaping doesn’t smell as strongly, the residue still lingers on clothes and in your home.

Z

Not putting others at risk

However careful you are inevitably others will also inhale some of your smoke too. You are also more likely to die younger, depriving loved ones of your company. Second-hand vaping exposure is still being researched, but the principle remains the same.

You can do it!

How Hypnotherapy can help you quit vaping and smoking

Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help access the subconscious mind. In this relaxed state, positive suggestions are used to help change your relationship with smoking, vaping, and nicotine.

The aim is not to frighten you or lecture you. You already know the reasons to stop.

The aim is to help you think and feel differently, so you no longer see smoking or vaping as something you want, need or depend on.

The goal is to:

  1. Change the Mindset: Reframe your thoughts so you no longer want or need to smoke or vape.
  2. Manage Cravings: Reduce the urge to reach for a cigarette or device, especially during stress.
  3. Increase Self-Control: Boost your willpower around your specific triggers.
  4. Replace Habits: Suggest new, healthier behaviours to replace the old hand-to-mouth routine.

Professional hypnotherapist

How it works

Treatment involves 2 sessions of 60 – 90 minutes and costs £200.

Session 1

This session focuses on understanding your specific relationship with cigarettes or vaping. From this, I will create a plan tailored to your individual needs. You will receive a handout filled with practical tips and advice to help you successfully transition to being a non-smoker/vaper.

Session 2

The second session is where the hypnosis work takes place. This session focuses on helping your subconscious mind accept the idea that you no longer need cigarettes, vapes, or nicotine in any form. A further free reinforcement session is available if you are struggling.

What happens afterwards

To remain successful, you will need to treat yourself as a permanent ex-smoker/vaper. To support you in this, the self-hypnosis recording I provide will reinforce the benefits of living nicotine-free and reiterate the reasons you chose to quit, helping you stay on track even during times of stress.

FAQs about hypnotherapy for vaping and smoking

How effective is hypnotherapy for quitting smoking and vaping?

Hypnotherapy is one of the most successful methods for becoming nicotine-free. While nicotine replacement patches or gum only address the physical addiction, hypnosis targets the subconscious autopilot habit. By rewiring how your brain perceives the cigarette or the vape, it breaks the psychological dependency that often causes other methods to fail.

Can hypnotherapy help me stop vaping if I've never smoked cigarettes?

Absolutely. Many people who started vaping as a healthier alternative still find themselves addicted to nicotine. Hypnotherapy works effectively for vape users by addressing the specific hand-to-mouth rituals and the constant accessibility that makes e-cigarettes so addictive.

Will I be forced to quit smoking or vaping against my will?

Absolutely. Many people who started vaping as a healthier alternative still find themselves addicted to nicotine. Hypnotherapy works effectively for vape users by addressing the specific hand-to-mouth rituals and the constant accessibility that makes e-cigarettes so addictive.

Why is hypnotherapy better than using vapes to stop me smoking?

Replacing smoking with vaping doesn’t solve the underlying problem; it just switches one addiction for a different one. Hypnotherapy is a drug-free, permanent solution that addresses the root cause of addiction. It allows you to live a life free from any device, chemical, or expensive habit.

What if I think I'm too addicted to be hypnotised?

No matter how many cigarettes you smoke or how often you reach for your vape, your brain is capable of change. Hypnotherapists can hypnotise most people. The depth of your addiction does not determine the success of the hypnosis; your desire to stop does.

Will I experience nicotine withdrawal if I stop both smoking and vaping?

Many clients report that hypnotherapy significantly dulls or entirely removes the edge of withdrawal. By shifting your subconscious perception from “I am giving something up” to “I am gaining my freedom”—the physical cravings and irritability are often replaced by a sense of calm and relief.

Why is vaping sometimes harder to quit than traditional smoking?

Vaping is often more difficult to stop because it can be used almost anywhere, leading to a much higher frequency of use. There is no “end of the cigarette” to signal you’re finished. Hypnotherapy is uniquely effective here because it breaks the “chain-vaping” habit and the constant psychological urge to reach for the device.

Will I gain weight if I stop smoking or vaping with hypnosis?

A common concern is replacing nicotine with food. During our sessions, we include specific suggestions to prevent “habit-swapping.” We focus on healthy coping mechanisms and stress management so that you don’t feel the need to reach for snacks as a substitute for a cigarette or vape.

What does the session feel like?

Most people find it deeply relaxing. The trance state is a focused relaxed state of mind similar to daydreaming. You will leave the session feeling refreshed and empowered, with a clear mental shift regarding your old smoking or vaping habits.

Is it safe to quit smoking and vaping at the same time?

Yes, and it is highly recommended. Because both habits rely on the same nicotine receptors and similar hand-to-mouth actions, it is much more effective to address the entire nicotine addiction at once rather than trying to phase one out while keeping the other.
